A decade.

3,650 days … and nights!

G and I celebrated our 10th Anniversary together recently with a quiet dinner at home, a damn fine bottle of champagne – a 1998 Veuve Cliquot Le Grande Dame – and the movie 500 Days of Summer.

The movie – if you’ve not seen it – concerns fate and how seemingly random run-ins with potential partners may or may not lead to finding ‘the one’. Often in such moments one or the other’s heart races and a flame is lit only to die when not reciprocated. Rarer still, maybe one in millions, those moments stop time as both recognize something has changed; something feels different; something feels right.

One should never lose hope of stumbling – surreptitiously – upon one of these magical moments.

It was appropriate then that G and I watched this film on our 10th Anniversary. You see, G and I actually met when we reached for the same copy of Wallpaper* magazine at the same time.

We opted for a classic French omelet as 1) there’s nothing finer on earth than a well made 3-egg omelet, which surprisingly can be a real difficult chore for some folks; and, 2) our first date all those years ago was at Jacques Bistro du Parc on Cumberland where we ordered … well, guess!  

G prepared a cute salad with heart-shaped strawberries and then made the omelets. G is a consummate omelet-maker. We actually have one fry pan that is only ever used for omelets and I would highly recommend if you don’t currently do this, get in the practice. The sequencing you see below is G preparing an omelet. All toll he is able to complete this in about four minutes flat. It’s that quick; the result being a perfect omelet with no colour on the outside and unctuous, meltingly, gooey goodness on the inside.
