Depeche Mode

1) Depeche Mode set

Last night, G, myself, Sinead, Tennis Star Suzie, Kevin and Bella all
donned our black 80’s gear and headed down to the Molson Amphitheatre at
Ontario Place to see Depeche Mode
in concert.  Depeche Mode was one of the very early post-punk bands
that arrived on scene in 1981 with an eclectic mix of punk and hard
beats that eventually got the name new wave.

As a wee bit of history, Vince Clark was actually part of the original
Depeche Mode group (and their chief songwriter) but left after the “Speak
& Spell” album. He ended up hooking up with Alison Moyet to form the
band Yazoo and then later with Andy Bell, the band Erasure (all of whom
I’ve seen in my time … and love). Yazoo’s album “Upstairs at Eric’s”
remains an all-time favourite of mine.

2 & 3) ok, so Kevin somehow managed better seats than me … we’re stalking each other by taking photos

The concert was excellent, excellent and they belted out all the great tunes.
Dave Gahan and Martin Gore can still strut their stuff and Dave’s voice is in fine form.

Before the concert we head to Tennis Star Suzie’s new condo to get liquored up and eat before walking down to Ontario Place.
