Three and a half years later … finally, our pre-delivery inspection.

G and I bought our condo eons ago, and, as is wont with new construction builds in Toronto, have waited endlessly and endured round after round of delay notices from the developer announcing yet another rescheduling of our occupancy date.

Needless to say, it was fantastic and a bit surreal to actually enter the building and the unit after ‘seeing’ it in your mind’s eye for so long. The place is gorgeous and we’re very happy. The PDI went well – G is an architect so he’s done these many times before – and there were only a few deficiencies to note beyond the usual paint touch-ups and missing light switch covers. Really, the biggest three were:

the integrated cupboard panel for the dishwasher was not installed – it’s a panel that hides the dishwasher to look like a cupboard;
a small strip of flashing was missing at the balcony door;
the waterline for the fridge ice machine and water dispenser was not hooked-up.

We had heard some real horror stories about PDIs that were nightmares with doors missing, floors not installed, no bathtubs, no heat, etc., so we are truly pleased with ours. I must say our developer is top-notch despite the adventure we had bickering over the smooth ceilings issue. They are a classy, professional outfit.

The building is still pretty much a construction zone but it is coming all very well. We move in a fortnight. The lobby and interiors are by the munge/leung interior design firm and are contemporary and gorgeous! You can see their fabulous interiors here.

One final bonus were our ceilings. We were expecting 9′ ceilings but when we measured, lo and behold 10′ instead. Ah, shucks darn! Below, a couple pictures … I should note the post-its are places we identified where touch-ups were needed.
