For Christmas my folks gave G and I a KitchenAid Accolade Series Mixer. Because I was traveling light at Christmas, I left the mixer behind in London but mom and papa graciously brought it with them this past weekend.
We thought it perfect that we first use the mixer for the Ten Plates dinner, and we did, using an ice cream maker attachment I bought at The Bay. The Ten Plates honey frappe was made with honey cream I made in the mixer. Woohoo!
On Sunday, we opted to give the mixer a go for its real purpose … baking! While G and I are pretty decent chefs, baking is a whole other type of culinary art and I hope the mixer may help growing this art in us. Our first choice was a walnut coffee cake. I loved how easy baking becomes with the mixer … one simply pours in the ingredients, mixes and voila, done!
Me likes.

1) walnuts, brown sugar and cinnamon; 2) the mixer awaits use; 3) G goes for it
4) the batter gets beaten; 5) in goes the butter; 6) ready to pour
7 & 8) before and after the oven
Nice mixer!
Ooh! How gorgeous. You will now realize how you did without the stand mixer before now. :)
Love the mixed but better the food you make with it!!!
What an attractive looking mixer…I love that race-car red…so sporty!!So nice you “devirginized” it for the Ten Course Meal!
hehehe i’m the opposite… i’m a better baker than chef… no kitchenaid yet though. i think that’ll be my present to myself when i (eventually) pass my graduate board oral exams =D
