The Rant: Airline “Arrival” times
Greeting from a snowy Halifax, Nova Scotia!
I flew down here last night after getting off the stage and enjoying a wonderful homemade pizza that G prepared using the KitchenAid (of course). My rant has to do with airlines. I’ve no idea why airlines bother posting “arrival” times. I flew down on Westjet, which was supposed to leave at 7:44 but didn’t take off till 8:30pm. Upon arrival at 10:49pm (Maritime time), we then sat on the tarmack, informed by the pilot that we’d be “10 minutes” while the ground crew prepared the gate. Of course, we didn’t actually get into the gate until 11:19pm.
So these thoughts:
- airline “arrival” times should be struck permanently from the vocabulary and replaced with “we’ve-no-idea-when-you’ll-actually-arrive-but-this-is-our-best-guess” times; and,
- any comment regarding time uttered by pilots should always, immediately be tripled to understand the real time involved.
Has anyone actually flown in the past year and managed to arrive on time? I fcuking hate flying.
The Rave: Oil of Oregano
Since Friday, I’ve been at war with a cold. While colds are to be expected at this time of the year, they do not make for much fun whilst flying, performing on stage, performing in bed, and generally going about your activities of daily living. However, enter my new friend, oil of oregano. A work colleague mentioned this homeopathic little wonder to me several months ago and I am a believer. While oil of oregano does take some getting use to as it is very potent, it does work. A combination of the oil and doubling my usual intake of echenesia did the trick. No drugs needed. Me loves it! Oil of oregano is taken orally by putting 3 drops under your tongue. Be prepared for coughing the first time you do this. As with anything, do read the precautions before using. I use the Joy of Mountain’s brand.
