not my Papa!
I mentioned to xangsters, my Papa is presently dealing with prostrate cancer (his surgery for a radical prostatectomy is set for June 12 in London).
Anyway, yesterday, Papa completed a half-marathon!! My Papa is 69 years old and his time for running 21 kms (13.1 miles) was 2:03:29. As a reference here, my usual time for a half-marathon is like 1:45:00 so – damn – bravo for Papa!
He said:
“I was hoping to get under two hours but there were two hills that I decided to walk up, otherwise I would have made it. It was very chilly at the start -3 Celsius but it quickly warmed up. I feel fine now, but I think the idea of a full marathon has disappeared. Just too much training. My running career may be over.”
What a sweet entry to your pop. All the best to him and for putting all us lazy couch-ridden asses to shame.
RYC; Thanks for the quote. I will have to use that sometime.
Wow, i’m starting to train haha
Yayyy! Go PapaAppsScraps! (hmmm, 2:03 is amazing for anyone! let alone a 70yr old cancer survivor! … wow – gives me a goal to set now)
Hope everything go well to him….
wow, that’s amazing! i hope his surgery goes well!
ryc: things like this make me think about moving to canada!
Inspiration? Thats an understatement, I feel bad that all I can do is send 2 eprops!
Will you be joining him in London?

All the best wishes to your father!

Wow, that’s impressive!
Bravo for your dad! Now I start to feel ashamed of myself as I don’t think I can run faster than you dad. LOL I suck at running.
Tell your dad he’s an inspiration. Btw – my colleague who goes to operas… he told me that the performance of Norma on Sunday afternoon was probably the best opera he has ever seen in his life.
Cheers to Papa!! That turly is inspirational.
RYC: I did not mention it but stress too seems to slow things down or at least make them seem longer.
wow! congrats to him!! and good luck for his surgery in June :)
That’s terrific! Cheers to your dad!
