Friday we had a ‘practice-making-sushi’ night. G and I have taken several sushi courses in our time and have even taught sushi making 101. But that was ages ago, as the sushi rolls I made last night attested to. My rolls were awful. The number of courses you’ve taken in sushi making is no proof of one’s sushi mastery!
1) sushi rice: in Japan, sushi chefs can practice making rice, and only rice, for years prior to graduating to touching any fish;
2) the sushi stuffing awaits the nori

3) Blee works on her sushi roll; 4) chocolates from Monde Chocolatier
Blee, who is just back from Hong Kong, joined us and brought oh-my-gawd yummie chocolates with interesting fillings like green tea, ginger, curry, and black sesame.
That is double blast for me. I love sushi and love chocolate. YUMMY. No can’t roll them either.
YUMMY! Even after getting sick on sashimi, I still want sushi. Those chocolates look uber delicious!!
…Wow, every post I’m seeing is talking about food. XDI’m sure that your rolls were awesome. What kind of fish did you make the sushi[s] with?
oh come on brent! don’t we get to see the fabulous rolls u made?? :( mmm those chocolates look scrumpt.
Oh man… I shouldn’t be looking at food. I’m so hungry!
