Christening

Baby Kiara’s Christening
Today G and I went to church! We visited Beaches Presbyterian Church and watched as Baby Kiara was christened. It was a lovely ceremony and we were honoured to be asked to attend. The service (all one and a half hours of it) was refreshing with lots of singing, music and kids wandering the pews. Afterwards we headed to Nevada for a brunch courtesy of Scots on the Rocks Ann’s father. Thanks Martin!

Meeting the Montrealers
On Saturday we met up with fellow xangan, tranman100, and his boyfriend, Alex for an afternoon of exploring Pacific Mall. Dave and I have been following each other’s xangas for(ever) and it was so great to meet him and Alex after reading about them for more than a year.  We dim sumed, we learned a lot about Montreal we never knew, we shopped for (il)legal videos, we found three things Alex needs to add to his Christmas gift list for Dave, and, best of all, we made a couple of friends who we’d be happy to host anytime. Our door is always open guys!

Cambalache
On Saturday night, we tried a new restaurant on Mount Pleasant, Cambalache, a Spanish tapas place. We have been fortunate to try all but two of the restaurants on Mount Pleasant between Davisville and Eglinton now (fyi: the two remaining are Chick ‘n Deli and Zee Grill). To be honest, you simply cannot go wrong with any of the fine restaurants along this strip.

Tapas food is tiny portions of wonderful meat, veggies and seafood that you share among a table. Jamie Kennedy is doing this down at his Wine Bar as is Chris McDonald at Cava. Cambalache has been open barely three weeks and, I’d argue, is putting Chris to shame and challenging Jamie. Excellent (and affordable) food well worth a visit.
