While down at Riverside, we also watched papa run his final, ever road race. Papa has been running, well, since forever … probably going on a half century now. Deciding to stop must have been a difficult decision I know. While it would be simple for me; I suspect it was harder for him. This is a man who faithfully records each of his jogs in a little book which notes the distance ran, the weather, the time and occasionally how he was feeling. Papa, you should tally up all those kms and see how many times you’ve run around the world over these 50+ years. Wow!
The day was perfect and papa had a great run, topping off his years of running with a first place ranking in his age group! Bravo! He’ll now walk with my mom and golf, of course, and can look back on a brilliant running career. You’ve set the bar high papa, but I’ll plan to follow in your path and finish first in the over 80 year old age group and say a little prayer for you as I cross the line. Hugs.
YAY PAPA YAY!!!
