From Pelee Island we hi-hoed across to Stratford and joined my mom to see “My One and Only” at the Avon Theatre. Stratford Festival is the largest Skakespearean festival in North America, and has been going strong in the wee (though beautiful) town of Stratford for some 40 years.
The thing to do when visiting Stratford is to shop (yes, of course) but also picnic along the banks of the Avon River before your show, which is exactly what we did.
Mom made an uber-delicious picnic lunch for us and we headed along the river to stake our claim and chow down.
The play, a musical with lots of tap dancing, was fun: the second act much better than the first. It starred Cynthia “I’m-in-every-play” Dale and featured the music of George and Ira Gershwin. If you’re every in the area, I would highly recommend you try to spend a day and take in a play. It’s worth every penny!
It always seems like you go to some new awesome place, have some good food and have a lot of fun almost every single day
I an soooooo envious. I used to go to Stratford for a long weekend –5 plays in three days. It has only since moving to Florida that I found the car drive too long. I know fly.
oh i’m envious… i’d love to visit stratford, especially for the shakespeare festival.
Nice outing….wow….check out the picnic table settings!!
