G and I talked all week about preparing pumpkin gnocchi for dinner on Saturday night with a mushroom consomme. After a visit to the Bay at Yonge to see the holiday windows (where I played with the elves), a stop in Sears to (thankfully) buy a humidifier for home, hair cuts with Leo extraordinaire, and a run around St. Lawrence Market, we made it back around 6pm and started to drink and cook.

1) the Bay windows; 2) Brent with the elves
The drinking derailed any plan I had to take pictures of the homemade pumpkin gnocchi and mushroom consomme being made, which, thanks to G’s brilliant freeze cooling ideas, effectively had us sitting down to eat at 8:30pm … which is a blessed miracle for anyone who’s ever made homemade consomme and gnocchi from scratch will attest to. Miraculous! If you want the scoop on how to make consomme, see the post I put up on making duck consomme back in February last year in preparation for our Oscar Dinner.
3) baby arugala salad with roasted pumpkin seeds
4) the gorgeous pumpkin gnocchi with mushroom consomme
5) Brent drunk and on cleanup duty … bluck!
where is the meat? haha
I would say ‘omg, i hate you for always making me hungry when i visit your xanga’, but i’m so full T_Tthefirst picture though…was really really cute =]
mm… sounds delicious!this reminds me, i meant to discuss a few culinary adventures i’ve had lately, but i forgot to take pictures of all of them! of particular note, i recently made a chocolate dobash cake with chai buttercream frosting. yum!
Mmm! Pumpkin gnocchi! So yum.RYC: The buttercream recipe dies with me or you could just go to here.
All that food looks sooo good and the empty wine glass – who emptied it???RYC: Actually the eye Doctor prescribed a daily vitamin loaded with double all the vitamins the eyes need. So far so good.
