Well, I’m in …. the Canadian Opera Company‘s production of Janacek’s From the House of the Dead. Back in November I mentioned I got called for a role in this production. The one stipulation was that I would need to have my head shaved bald as the director, Dmitri Bertman, wanted the prisoners to look like they were in a Russian gulag. Makes sense. Except I’m not a baldheaded kind of guy.
Back a couple weeks ago, the company rang and advised Director Bertman would tolerate a number 2 buzz cut which promptly sent me scampering to my stylist, the talented Leo Estay, to ask how short a number 2 was.
Too short, he, G and I agreed and so I rang the company and declined the role.
Then, this past Friday, Liz rings me and says, “We’ve got a role for you … and you can keep your hair!”.
Woohee! So, I’m in. Rehearsals start December 27th with opening night at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts set for February 2nd. Come see me!
I’ll be one of the doctors/guards in the production and I get to hose down the 40-odd semi-naked male prisoners on stage! Ohhh, good fun!
hahahaha have fun on stage hosing down all those men!
RYC: I forget to thank you for your kind comment.
Now remember to concentrate on the role not the prisoners!! A new career on stage????
damn it…im so freaking jealous of your role=/T_T
I do hope you’ll somehow keep your concentration when you hose down those semi naked guys.
