Spice Girls: The Retirement Fund Tour

DSCF0052

Last night G and I attended the Spice Girls concert at the Air Canada Centre. This was the Girls’ final show on this, their
retirement fund tour. While the tour was supposed to carry on well beyond Toronto, the biatches
in-fighting (masked as a desire to ‘spend more time with their families’)
has lead to the cancellation. Despite all their talk of girl power, these
girls really don’t like each other.

Still, the show was good fun in a karaoke-on-a-cruise ship
sort of way. Sporty Spice, who could easily have a second career as a dominatrix, and Scary Spice proved they are the real singers in this group. Baby
Spice proved she’ll never be a solo star, and that Ungainly Stick Insect
(aka Posh Spice aka Victoria Beckham) proved she’s as vapid and vacant as
she looks.

And while hokey as all get out, there was some real emotion
in the house when the Ungainly Stick Insect, Baby and Scary brought their own
kids up on stage as part of the fond-farewell.

(wipes tear)

Below, you can catch 4 minutes of the Girls’ last song
ever as a team (you’ll have to stop the flash fetish music on the main page first to hear them).

…. That’s at least until the money runs out and
we catch them next at Casino Rama.

I caught a glimpse on local tv news when their kids were dancing on the stage, so cute!

  4. You couldn’t have said it better (retirement tour haha) – I think you’re trying to hide that you enjoyed the show!!! :)

ryc: hahaha what’s wrong with maryland? …on second thought, don’t answer that. my molten chocolate cakes don’t come out as pretty as yours looked on the outside, though… but they taste pretty good nonetheless!

You are right about the next and final tour when the money runs out.

  8. P.S. I LOVE SPICE WORLD… they play in the clubs a lot now… and everyone just sings along and dances! Feel-good times all’round (: I would’ve went crazy if I heard this in real life from them. IT LOOKS LIKE SUCH A GOOD TIME! I’m super jealous :D Spice Up Your Life indeed!

  9. Hahaha I love your take on the Spice Girls. I remember being really into their music (wasn’t everybody?), and I also read in the paper that they were having cat fights in the background… sigh, so much for that shtick.I believed in their messages! (at least… for a while). A lot of my friends got to see them when they were here in Vancouver. “Still, the show was good fun in a karaoke-on-a-cruise ship sort of way.” Loved that ;)
