Yikes-Dumbass Square

… er, I mean, Yonge-Dundas Square, which bills itself as “The Heart of the City”. While – location-wise – this moniker is correct, Yikes-Dumbass Square is one of the most soulless places in all of Toronto. A barren waste of concrete, it is made all the more sterile and obscene by the walls of advertising that tower around it.

It is the last place I would advise any tourist visiting Toronto to sightsee, and I’m both saddened and embarrassed to have it represent ‘the heart’ of my City. Shame on its designers and architects (who ought to have their licenses revoked) and shame on our politicians who allowed the monstrosity to happen at all.

Below, a short roundabout video I shot of this square a couple weeks ago during a Southeast Asia festival.

Did you say SE Asian Festival? I wonder if you’ve got any foodie photos?

Yeah, I would agree with you on this. It looks like it ran out of funding and creative ideas.

I think every town has one of “those” places which seeks to attract tourist. Since the natives would avoid it!!
