1 & 2) waiting inside Sound Academy

Sunday night, G and I headed down to Polson Pier – where still, you get some of the best shots of Toronto (next to being on the Island) – to see popstar of the 80s Beck perform in concert.

The show was at The Sound Academy which is a great, if crowded, place to see acts up close and personal. Beck’s show was good and his opening act, MGMT, were fantastic I think (dare I say, upstage). MGMT is a mix of Queen, the Who and Rush rolled into one and well work a listen too.

Below, is a short video capture of Beck’s great song, “Loser”.

  2. Yeah, The Number 23 wasn’t the greatest. But I wouldn’t say it’s the worst waste of time in my life and i’m not just referring to the artistic sequence. I though Jim Carey’s acting was actually quite good although yes, he wasn’t the perfect fit. The obsession with 23 kind of got annoying but then perhaps it was meant to be like that to resemble psychosis. The ending was safe…I guess out of 0 to 10, i’d give it a 4. That’s because I’ve seen worse. I saw the movie 1408 the other day which was probably a 1 or 0. It was such a waste of time. It was like going to the Disney Haunted House. They even had to use the same diabolic portrait effect that Disney uses. The story didn’t flow and got lost in the waste of spooky effects. It was a waste of John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson talent. And when I found out Stephen King wrote it, it made it especially such a letdown. So yeah, 23 relatively was better.
