Toronto was punched with two snowstorms this weekend: one Friday; one Sunday. Merry Ho Ho!

We opted to hunker down and spent Friday night at our favourite Toronto hotel, Le Meridien King Edward Hotel on King Street, and scored a great corner suite rate the included dinner at Victoria’s and full Canadian breakfast. Since we are both heading off in different directions in the next couple days, we wanted to spend some time together to celebrate Christmas.

Dinner was wonderful: we shared foie gras, then I had an excellent pumpkin gnocchi while G dinned on a supreme of chicken. Victoria’s was empty, which was delightful and strange (seems everyone cancelled their reservations because of the snow) and we had the entire restaurant to ourselves, save one other couple.

On Saturday, we attended Tennis Star Suzie’s holiday gathering down on Queen’s Quay. Rather than brave the commute, we booked a room at the Westin Harbour Castle so we could walk to Suzie’s condo. This was our first stay at this hotel and I must say it was very nice. Rooms are very contemporary and have a tranquil zen feel to them.

Tonight we shall remain inside and prepare our holiday dinner and gift exchange. Woohee! We’ve just two days before we head our separate ways for the holiday: myself off to London for a short visit while G is heading to Los Angeles and then onto Cabo San Lucas,
Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta (I think he’s got the better trip planned!).

Wow, that looks cold.  While G made the better choice, you’ll be pretty warm in LA.  Enjoy your travels!
