First a shout-out to Canada, which, in the United Nations Development Program‘s Human Development Report 2009, released yesterday, ranked Canada with the 4th best quality of life for its citizens of all the nations in the world. Yay Canada! By way of comparison, our neighbours on the continent the United States and Mexico ranked 13th and 53rd respectively.
Unlike most Torontonians, G and I escaped Nuit Blanche events on Saturday night and retreated to the Westin Prince Hotel for an evening of drinks – trying another great bubbly – and movies (see Monday’s post). The Westin continues to undergo some very fabulous renovations. The changes to the lobby and restaurant areas, started about a year ago now are finally finished and are simply exceptional. Work begins on the elevators, pool and gym areas next. Well worth a visit if you want a quick getaway in Midtown.
G made a superb beef bourguignon with egg noodles and gremolata on Sunday that was too-die-for.
i would love to try that beef bourguignon.
Your choice of food and wine make excellent combinations – time for a book!
The food looks divine! I’d love to try that bottle of bubbly!
Mmm… that looks good!
I tell you, if circumstances were just a hair different, Tawn and I would definitely consider moving to Canada. As an only child, though, there’s a lot of pressure for him to remain in Bangkok for the time being.
Wow, G’s got talent :) That looks great, it’s made me want to have some now. It’s amazing how much gremolata does for this dish isn’t it? Brightens it up, and complements it so well.
