In a past life I was an artist and carried into this a love for light and the mystery of shade.
I remain both fascinated by and indebted to Leonardo who birthed us chiaroscuro; and to Caravaggio – dreadful man though he was – who mastered it; and to those enlightened masters in the Low Countries who refined it long after I moved on.
And I do believe if we just stopped to look a little more deeply each day – perhaps at dawn – we would come to understand the ribbons of light and shade that continue to knit us to our pasts while simultaneously, often blatantly, revealing our future.
All this to say, I love my time here and I really like my new Nikon D3000 with its 18-200mm VR lens.
Especially at dawn – for the memory it brings me of what was; and all that is yet to be.
That is beautiful :)
Nice picture and entry…
