Yet another of G’s fabulous cocktail  inventions. This was created in honour of Chinese New Year’s for guests who arrived Saturday night prior to heading out for the Banquet. It’s excellent with a nod to Caesar.

Chinese New Year Banquet

Doing the Chinese New Year banquet a week early is just so smart. Same great food; way less people. This year we traveled to Richmond Hill (OMG! I don’t know how people live in the suburbs) to Times Square. Banquet foods below:

1) BBQ combination platter; 2) shark’s fin soup w/abalone & dried seafood; 3) braised prince mushrooms w/vegetable; 4) stir fried sliced squid & scallop w/egg bean curd & vegetable; 5) braised lobster w/vermicelli & supreme sauce in hot pot; 6) steamed seasonal fish w/chef’s special sauce

… and dessert. But as I’m sure you’ll agree, Chinese desserts leave a lot to be desired. Though I personally do love red bean soup.

Someone Please Block Me from Holts

Again Saturday I visited my least favourite store, Holts. I wanted to buy shoes… cheap … at the Bay.  Course, best intentions went to pot and here I am in Holts trying on Boss stuff and leaving the vile, cruel store two hundred dollars poorer.

I wonder if you can set-up an invisible fence, like they do for dogs, to keep me out of Holts?

Kid Proof House?

Friends from waaaaaaaaay back visited for Indian on Friday night. We ordered in from Bombay Bhel. I thought the food was quite yummy.  The butter chicken excellent; the lamb korma good; the tandoori platter fabulous. Toddler E visited with mom and dad and quickly demonstrated my place is not quite kid-proof. Too many interesting things too low to the ground. Accidents happen in such circumstances. The coffee table in the living room, which G and I actually made ourselves, got a waxing so to speak as did the wool rug. No great harm done. And beside, Toddler E is just too darn cute.

Aww.  So cute that you celebrated already.  I still prefer Richmond Hill’s Chinese cuisine over that of Chinatown hands-down… and I know exactly which restaurant you went to.  They have the best High Noon Tea.  So, just confirming, are you averse to handing out e-Props or do I have to work harder to earn them from you ? :)  BTW, yes you are a closet NDP supporter.  Time to step-out!

To me it doesn’t seem like a CNY dinner without the background noise of hundred of chinese people talking and screaming at each other.
