Company reorgs are never fun. We are in the midst of one now. A week ago all the ‘bigwigs’ in the province were called to a meeting in Mississauga. There were about 35 of us. We sat through a 3 hour presentation on the transition, the whys (which I fully agree with), the what and hows (the hows need a bit of work). Then at 2pm, us Toronto-centric folk and the 4 staff from the North were asked to leave. The remainder of the folks received working notice. Ouch!
Granted, some of these folks can reapply to other posts within the organization as we move into a line management configuration from field to National but many will be out of jobs.
In my own little world, 4 folks were made redundant and will be missed. In addition to my existing responsibilities, I now have responsibility for 3 additional product offerings (all in precarious financial states) and 8 new reports. Eight new reports! OMG! What am I going to do with 8 new reports? Damn, I could start a soccer team!
It’s like, ah drats!, as I was hoping for a package myself he he he
And is it my imagination or is everyone these days doing more with less? And is everyone like busy beyond belief at work? I know onetonman is in the same boat.
So for some levity, this awful joke:
Q: What do you call a 250lbs woman in Iowa? … Anorexic.
I finally found a job after two months of searching. Lost my job right after the new year. Can’t downsize now. I am the only one in the office. Hang in there. I do all the reports.
My company is re-orging too. Sooo many shake ups!
aww…as long as you keep posting and dont die from too much work? o_Oand…aww…poor Iowa state
I’m not even working. Haha. That joke…wickedly funny, but very mean.
Erm…nope…I’m hella free while at work. OBVIOUSLY.
I am grad that I don’t need to do reports… Good luck!!!!
I’ve been on the mgm’t side – these things aren’t fun. Good luck and I hope you meet with all your new reports very soon. I’m meeting with bf tonight for dinner – come hell or high water. I just need to survive till the first week of May.
