So, the first review is in! The Toronto Star review is here. And it’s a winner! Hooray us!
To pull a couple lines:
“The production, a remount of the opera company’s 1988 effort, is a sturdy one, mixing a fairly abstract set with a straightforward, traditional staging. There are five stagings left after last night’s opening, which was one of this music season’s memorable evenings.”
and
“In other words, this Norma is a tragedy to celebrate.”

The National Post and Globe & Mail reviews should appear tomorrow.
At the corner of Soudan and Mt. Pleasant – in the former space of the now defunct OliverBonacini restaurant Square (see a review here) – we see signs for Lai Toh Heen. Now, dim sum in this neighbourhood? Hmmmmm … time will tell. And G believes – correctly I think – that this may be a sister restaurant for the very famous and very yummy Lai Wah Heen in the Metropolitan Hotel. The lettering for the name is similar to Lai Wah Heen’s and the new restaurant logo is exactly the same. I can hardly wait!
1) Lai Toh Heen; 2) a peek inside
HotDocs
I picked up the Toronto HotDocs Film Festival Guide yesterday. This is the 6th year for the festival, running April 28 thru May 7. I will be purchasing a pass Sunday and heading out to see what’s on offer.
Any other xangster in Toronto keen on joining G and/or I at a couple screenings? … give me a shout. The film schedule can be found here.

I haven’t had dim sum since last Christmas while I was in Sydney! I should go and have some tomorrow! hahah..

Ops forgot – that will be $1 for the consult. I am more expensive than Lucy.
I will check the Globe online to read the review.

OOh… I love Lai Wah Heen but it’s pricey. I hope the new restaurant will be a hit.
