My team hosted a farewell for me today, which was utterly sweet. Good fun; good food; good memories! This group of people do some amazing work and I’ve been proud to have stood beside each of you over these 13 years!
Thursday’s 18 on Draught: Rickard’s Red
Actually it was a Rickard’s Red and (from yesterday) a Sleeman Cream Ale.
Thursday’s dinner: Cava
This is Chef Chris MacDonald’s new abode on Yonge at St. Clair. Chris, of course, ran Avalon – one of Toronto’s finest French cuisine restaurants – until about a year ago when he closed it down and re-established camp further north on Yonge.
Lady Sarah, G and I visited tonight to try his tapas style menu.
In addition to these courses, we also ordered up:
- Watercrest and roasted beet salad with Valdeon & Marcona almonds;
- Croquetas de jamon; and,
- Porky beans.
We watered this down with Sangria (of course) considering we’re doing the Spanish tapas thing. All in all, the food was good. Not outstanding, granted. I did enjoy the tapas style for sure. The restaurant is tucked away and is very plain inside (though, as G says so often, lighting does everything for a room). I guess the question is would I return. Hmmmmm … probably not. Worth a visit once though.
Thursday’s mail: So You Think You Can Dance
We received our tickets in the mail today for the So You Think You Can Dance Summer Tour. We’ll be shuffling off to Buffalo at the end of September to see Travis, Benji, Heidi and Donyel perform at Shea’s Performing Arts Centre. Woohoo!
awww:) that is so sweet of your co-workers to do all that! i don’t believe u actually are going ahead with the “So You Think You Can Dance” plan. truly a fanatic!! the bow and arrow beside my place has awesome beers on-tap.
Wow..so sweet :D…btw yellow fins are endangering!! Stop eating them!! haha :P sorry, just read about how much tuna are fished due to the riding demand for sushis.
mmm… black forest cake. that’s on the list of cakes i want to try baking but have not yet gotten around to.
I BOUGHT IT !! I BOUGHT THE ZIPPER HOODIE!!! YAYYYYYYY
Oh, I saw that “dance” show on CTV some time ago and I think it was great! Good for you! =)
That looks like the black forsest cake from Loblaws! If it is from there, then it really is a yummy cake! =)As for dancing… I hear they are coming to the Hummingbird Centre. I want to catch the show too!
Looks like a good group with which to have worked. I am not one for farewells. I was bad and usually called off sick my last day at any job. The food makes me hungry.
