Dragon Boat Weekend

So I spent pretty much all weekend at Ontario Place: alternatively freezing in pouring rain on the water (on Saturday) and getting burned on the water (on Sunday) … all for my love of dragon boating.

It was a good weekend. We had four races in total. Saturday afternoon was by far our best race this season and while we ended up in the K Division and raced our little recreational hearts out, we ended up 10th. Ah well. We do it for ourselves, and, as teammate James says, “Who owns this boat?”

“We Do!”

Thanks goes to Coaches Vince and Morgan for putting up with us this summer, and teaching us to be the best paddlers we can be. You guys are awesome mentors!

Thanks goes to Blee for letting me crash at her place on Saturday night to save my sorry butt some TTC travel time down to Ontario Place Sunday morning (we had to be at camp at bloody 7:30am). And for hauling butt with me to all those practices way out at Balmy Beach.

Thanks goes to my Typhoon teammates, notably those who sit within water splashing distance of me: Jess, Jen, Michelle, Bonnie, Rob, Justyna.

And thanks goes to G for putting up with my blah-blah-blahing about racing all summer.

On a completely unrelated note, I had a meeting in London today and I’ve gotta say it again … there is no better way to travel Ontario than by VIA!

I saw a bit of the race when I drove by Lakeshore on Saturday. I agree about using VIA. I’ve had a couple of 9 AM meetings in London and had to drive there. *groan*
